John Taylor Gatto (1935-2018), American Hero

You may not know his name but he fought for you and your children. On the battlefield of America’s public schools. His only interest was in the promotion of learning. What a concept.

Gatto was the teacher we needed. He will be missed and hard to replace.

Over the course of his career, Gatto was recognized by other educators for the rapport he had built with his students. While other teachers were spending much of their day on behavioral management issues, Gatto’s students were actively engaged in his lectures and genuinely excited about learning. When faculty members would come to him seeking advice, his prescription was simple: treat your students the same way you treat anyone else.

Above all, Gatto understood that his students were not mere underlings, but individuals with unique skills and talents to share with the rest of the world. They didn’t want to be talked down to but longed to be treated with respect and dignity. He recognized that their worth was not determined by the neighborhoods where they lived, their parents’ annual salaries, or the scores they received on standardized tests. He concluded that “genius,” is “as common as dirt. We suppress genius because we haven’t yet figured out how to manage a population of educated men and women. The solution, I think, is simple and glorious. Let them manage themselves.”

After three decades in the classroom, Gatto realized that the public school system was squashing individualism more than it was educating students and preparing them for the real world. To make matters worse, his later research would reveal that this dumbing down was not just by accident, but by design.

Upon his realization, he resigned in protest and in order to further the truth and freedom. We, now, must take up the work.

Meanwhile, in Judeo-Christian America…

“Okay. So a Veep and a Rabbi walk into a firestorm…”

Complete that joke as you like – my head hurts. But a laugh helps a little. That’s what I got out of this brand new story from Yahoo! “News” and I thought I’d share.

Mike Pence, doing what Vice Presidents do, traveled to Michigan to headline a campaign rally for Lena Epstein. Mrs. Epstein is a proud Republican running for Congress. She’s also Jewish. Trump, when not available himself, channels his inner Warren Zevon and sends the envoy – Pence in this case.

I’ve been to rallies like this, once even having forgotten my boots and shovel. It gets deep quick but, as everyone’s typically in the same party, no one seems to mind. Words were said, probably about taxes, jobs, the military, Israel, and making some country between Mexico and Canada great again. Stock stuff.

Then! Then, as is typical with these events, a prayer was offered. Here, matters of political identity and decorum can occasionally raise their heads. Pence is a Christian, Epstein a Jew, and the Michigan voters are probably Lions fans. So, who leads the prayer??? Rabbi? Pastor? Priest? Matthew Stafford?

Pence, likely with Epstein’s approval, settled the matter by offering up one Loren Jacobs, a “Christian Rabbi” from the area. But, “wait!” you say. Christians don’t have Rabbis and Rabbis aren’t Christian. Confusing possibly, but it’s a big country. The “Jews for Jesus” are a sect of Christians – I once knew one – who use Judaic titles and seek to convert Jews.

The hubbub it seems regards Jacob’s purported representation of all local Jews and his words of prayer offered for the victims of this weekend’s mass murder at Tree of Life Synagogue of Pittsburgh, PA. For those poor souls, he prayed in Jesus’s name. One might say that a prayer is a prayer, although one could also sense a sleight in action.

“Messianic ‘Judaism’ is a branch of Christianity and offensive to the Jewish community. Lena Epstein knew this and so did Pence and his team. This wasn’t ecumenical; it was an insulting political stunt,” said “real” Detroit Rabbi Jason Miller. There’s also the hot on the heels of the Synagogue shooting angle. Outrage. Firestorm.

The fake news, as presented by Yahoo!, laments the passing of civil discourse in America. For the record, these folks just parrot the many lies of the other lying liars. As such, they can’t even report the fake news’ fake news without more fake news.

She flipped through television channels and radio stations, scanning from conservative to liberal media, searching for any sign that the polarized nation had finally reached its tipping point.

For days, Elisa Karem Parker had been seeing updates in the news: A pipe bomb sent to liberal political donor George Soros. One delivered to CNN. More to former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and other prominent political figures villainized by those on the right — a bizarre plot unfolding just ahead of the midterm election that will decide which party controls Congress.

“It’s like our country is becoming ‘The Hunger Games,'” Parker, who considers herself squarely in the middle of the political divide, told her husband and teenage son over dinner.

“It’s like our country is becoming…” Proper tense, here, is “became.” Maybe if more people had turned off the teevee and paid attention BEFORE we reached the tipping point, something could have been done.

Too little, too late I fear.

Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting – Unknown Number of Casualties – Suspect Identified… — The Last Refuge

Terrible. And this episode feels almost as strange as the Florida “Trump fan” “mail” “bomber” (all fake except, maybe, the FLA part). Here we have a socialist, alt-reichtard, never-Trumper at work. Good Lord, defend us.

A suspect named Robert Bowers (48) opened fire in a synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, today killing an unknown number of people. Bowers opened fire at the Tree of Life Congregation Synagogue shortly before 10am. According to an assembly of media reports, the shooter killed at least three people on the […]

A Libertarian Gets It

Open borders kill countries, with the more civilized recipients falling victim to the less civilized incomers. Even first world to first world can have problems. Third world to first world is a problem. Robert Ringer gets past the theory:

All good theoretical stuff, but, unfortunately, reality has a way of overwhelming theory, and the dominant reality of our age is that a significant number of the earth’s inhabitants believe they have a right to violate your freedom. I’m not just talking about political thugs and bureaucrats, but their envy-crazed followers as well. Thus, the reality of illegal immigration is that it has the potential to destroy a civilized country.

Any undocumented person arriving at any border of the United States, regardless of age, sex, or country of origin, must immediately be refused entry. No courts involved. End of discussion.

Either we take such an unyielding stance or, by default, meekly submit to the dissolution of the United States of America. History teaches us that empires fall apart when their rulers and their citizens become soft, and Americans have become very soft. Now, thankfully, we are being forced to make a choice, and for that I must thank the organizers of the fake caravans. What shall it be?

America is either a country or it is not.

UPDATE: My weekly email to President Trump:

Dear President Trump:

Congratulations, as usual, for your unswerving dedication to America, the Posterity of the Constitution, and freedom.

You were correct to deem the current illegal migrant “caravan” (and all others) a “national emergency.” It is not a caravan. It is an invasion column – war conducted under the guise of globalist immigration.

As such, I would recommend treating it as a hostile military incursion. Repel it with military force. Do not allow another single invader into the United States. Consider strongly removing those already here. And, consider most strongly removing that enemy within, that which constantly encourages and suborns the invasion and the concurrent destruction.

You know the timing and the landscape better than I but I suspect the time is near to take hard action against our domestic enemy combatants. Please do so.

Thank you, as always, for all you do.

MAGA.

Sincerely,

Perrin Lovett
