Europe, State Department, terrorism

The State Department sometimes does American travelers a service by issuing warnings about certain dangerous or unstable regions. They don’t want our citizens stumbling into war zones or third world violence. Thus, it is rather telling they have issued such a statement: warning against travel to … Europe – the entire continent.

The U.S. State Department issued a travel alert for Europe on Monday, saying U.S. citizens should be aware of a continued threat of terrorist attacks throughout the continent.

In the alert, the State Department cited recent incidents in France, Russia, Sweden and the United Kingdom and said Islamic State and al Qaeda “have the ability to plan and execute terrorist attacks in Europe.”

The State Department’s previous travel alert for Europe, issued ahead of the winter holiday season, expired in February. A State Department official said Monday’s alert was not prompted by a specific threat, but rather recognition of the continuing risk of attacks especially ahead of the summer holidays. The alert expires on Sept. 1.

Malls, government facilities, hotels, clubs, restaurants, places of worship, parks, airports and other locations are all possible targets for attacks, the State Department’s alert said.

An Armed Protest is a Polite Protest

Maybe “polite” isn’t the right word. A non-violent protest – that works better. Vocativ, where they scour the “deep web” with a slight SJW bent, inadvertently made the argument for more guns in civil society (maybe even uncivil too).

Their’s was a story about armed Nazis overrunning a Kentucky town. The reason for the invasion was a little less than clear. The main foci were: there were Nazis; the Nazis were armed; SJWs counter protested; some of the SJWs were also armed. A better title would have been: “Armed Nazis and Armed Communists Share Words in Kentucky”. I suppose a guy based in NYC and Tel Aviv can be forgiven in that regard.

The liberal press always gives the communists a pass. Everyone else is a Nazi. In this case, they were observing actual Nazis – rare. And the rarities were openly armed. They noted that the usual “punch the Nazi” and “100 Nazi scalps” stuff didn’t happen. You don’t punch or scalp people toting AR-15s.

Really there were three armed parties present: the Nazis (real, this time); the communists, and; a legion of police. In this instance I don’t think the cops were necessary to keep the other sides apart. The guns did that. All those weapons and no one was shot or otherwise injured.

Kentucky has rather decent (lax) gun laws – open carry with few strings, etc. Contrast this incident to others from heavily gun-controlled districts. In California and in D.C., where private guns are “bad”, violence and destruction are the norm.

Add an assault rifle or two and suddenly people find a little respect, even if they’re not that respectable. Funny.

Even with the Swastika tattoo, not too sure about which side this is … not sure about much of anything here… Nick Wagner / Vocativ.

Newsflash for the thugs, criminals, terrorists, and other trash of Amerika: a lot more ordinary, non-tattooed, non-chatting, and better washed people are packing heat than you might think (if you thought). They’re there. They’re concealed. They’re polite. But their patience is beginning to wear thin. Keep it polite if you can; don’t push the envelope much further. Please.

Tackling ISIS: Brit Style

Another potential terrorist attack in London was prevented by good (if tech-spy overkill) policing. A foreign invader, whom I shall name “Abdul”, was tackled to the ground and arrested after being surveilled around Westminster.

The terror suspect who was detained with a ‘rucksack full of knives’ near Parliament square had been tracked on an intricate web of CCTV cameras by police and MI5.

Armed police ‘swarmed like bees’ on the bearded man just before 2.30pm after his concerned family reportedly alerted security services.

Witnesses said the man, who was wearing a tracksuit and trainers, was crossing Whitehall amid the usual crowds of tourists and political staff when a police car suddenly pulled up and officers confronted him, just five weeks after the Westminster terror attack killed that five people.

But, unbeknown to him, the suspect had been tailed from the moment he got off the Underground at St James’s Park – where he had travelled from east London – and headed towards Westminster.

While covert teams trailed him on the ground, a live feed was being sent to control rooms in New Scotland Yard and the MI5’s Thames House before they gave the order for them to swoop in.

“Abdul” smirks the smirk of Jihad. I have some ideas on how to wipe that off… Daily Mail.

Based on recent observations his mistake was the subway. One can’t jump a train onto the sidewalk. He should have rented an SUV or a truck instead. There’s a formula: drive the sidewalks first; stab and slash second, and finish with “Allahu Akbar!” immediately prior to being martyered. Hopefully he won’t get a chance to correct his errors.

Taqiyya this one away.

Dr. Paul isn’t exactly Pamela Anderson but Assange seemed happy with the meeting.

Having blasted the Trump administration for their hyprocritical flip-flop from “loving WikiLeaks” to “arrest Assange,” Ron Paul made his feelings very clear on what this signals: “If we allow this president to declare war on those who tell the truth, we have only ourselves to blame.” Today he sits down with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange for a live interview…

“The CIA has been deeply humiliated as a result of our ongoing publications so this is a preemptive move by the CIA to try and discredit our publications and create a new category for Wikileaks and other national security reporters to strip them of First Amendment protections,”

Fox News

Sean Hannity, a.k.a. the last one standing, laments what may be the end of Fox News.

Yeah. That’s what happens when you fire all of your talent. Hannity was slated to be next but he did the unthinkable – he fought back. Ailes, the Judge, and Billy O are gone. Others too.

Fox will remain on the air. But it has already become as unwatchable and boring as CNN. Nearly as slanted too. Baier is watchable. Carlson may impress. The legs are still crossing…

Come to think of it, there is a lot of good talent floating around. Someone might want to round it up and start something new and better. They probably will.

That is all…

computers, future, stupid

A near future generation of super-duper computers may (will) have the ability to not only read your thoughts and memories, but potentially delete them.

However, such devices are open to abuse on a frightening degree, as the academics made clear.

They warned that “malicious brain-hacking” and “hazardous uses of medical neurotechnology” could require a redefinition of the idea of mental integrity.

This technology represents a whole new level of “right think”. And it could have horrifying potential as a WMD, potential “wiping” brains clean like hard drives. No thoughts at all. The good news is that scientists figure most modern Americans literally have nothing to lose…

A Federal Judge in California ruled against the administration’s order that sanctuary cities either comply with the law or lose federal funding.

A federal judge on Tuesday blocked President Donald Trump’s attempt to withhold funding from “sanctuary cities” that do not cooperate with U.S. immigration officials, saying the president has no authority to attach new conditions to federal spending.

U.S. District Judge William Orrick issued the preliminary injunction in two lawsuits – one brought by the city of San Francisco, the other by Santa Clara County – against an executive order targeting communities that protect immigrants from deportation.

There may actually be some legitimacy to this ruling. The President might lack the authority to decide how earmarked monies are spent – a kind of late-term line item veto. It could be judicial overreach and interferrence. It could be both. I’ve looked into it as far as I think wise, especially considering there is a better and legal approach:

The local officials in these cities are committing felonies under 8 U.S.C. § 1324. Let them keep our tax dollars. Maybe they can buy some cigarettes in prison.

In related news, the Ninth Circuit will be dismayed to learn one of their beloved scholarly, academic-type foreign invaders has been arrested. Azhar Hussain, professor of aviation at Indiana State University was booked on charges related to his fabricating false hate crime nonsense. That keeps the otherkin hate crime hoax rate at exactly 100%. Every. Single. Time.

America, conservative, Pat Buchanan, politics

Yesterday Politico ran an excellent expose on Pat Buchanan. Read it HERE. Do read it. I learned a few things I didn’t know about Pat even though I’ve been an admirer since at least 1992, to include supporting his 1996 Presidential bid.

Buchanan, for his part, feels both validated and vindicated. Long ago resigned to the reality that his policy views made him a pariah in the Republican Party—and stained him irrevocably with the ensuing accusations of racism, anti-Semitism and xenophobia—he has lived to see the GOP come around to Buchananism and the country send its direct descendant to the White House.

“I was elated, delighted that Trump picked up on the exact issues on which I challenged Bush,” he tells me. “And then he goes and uses my slogan? It just doesn’t get any better than this.” Buchanan, who has published such books as The Death of the West, State of Emergency, Day of Reckoning and Suicide of a Superpower, admits that November’s election result “gave me hope” for the first time in recent memory.

But none of this means he’s suddenly bullish about America’s future. Buchanan says he has “always been a pessimist,” and despite Trump’s conquest, two things continue to color his dark forecast for the nation. First, Buchanan harbors deep concerns over whether Trump, with his off-topic tweeting and pointless fight-picking, has the requisite focus and discipline to execute his nationalist agenda—especially over the opposition of a media-establishment complex bent on his destruction. Second, even if Trump delivers on the loftiest of his promises, Buchanan fears it will be too little, too late. Sweeping change was needed 25 years ago, he says, before thousands of factories vanished due to the North American Free Trade Agreement, before millions of illegal immigrants entered the country, before trillions of dollars were squandered on regime change and nation-building.

nimbus-image-1492949929597

Andre Chung / Politico.

Things would have worked out better had he made it to the White House in 1993, or 1997, or even 2001. Time was running out, then, and had expired by January of 2009. As the article notes, or Pat noted, the time for radical change was then, rather than now. The good news is that we can still gain a little Buchananism every week at http://buchanan.org/blog/.

I also can’t help but note that this subject article reads almost like a lifetime achievement piece or an obituary. I am not sure if it more resembles an epitaph for Pat or one for the Old Republic. It could be both.

I shared his uncharacteristic optimism about Trump last year as well as his current, well-founded reservations. That party to which he devoted so much attention continues to flounder, even in its victories. Just yesterday, also: Ryan: Focus is on keeping government open, not healthcare. Yes, we must keep Mordor up and running at all costs (and those are high). Of they try hard enough they may yet be able to wield the Ring of Power.

Back to Pat B.: he owns and displays a rare replica of Robert E. Lee’s 1851 Colt Navy revolver. That’s pretty cool.

An Informative Chart for Earth Day

Happy Earth Day!

An older friend at a cigar shop insisted on watching the local and national news. On television. In my presence. I already knew it was Earth Day thanks to the wit and wisdom of this morning’s Dustin comic strip. What I didn’t know, the “news” filled me in on: thousands of communists, left-over hippies, stoners, and generally unemployed(able)-looking people gathered in Washington to rave about Earth Day, “science”, the horrors of civilization, and the clock running out on global warming (a farce they refer to as “settled science”).

Here’s a little real science, real facts, math and such, to cheer your Earth Day.

Climate change is real. It seems that the Earth’s conditions are in a continual state of flux. Over the past billion years or so we’ve had everything from a planet nearly frozen solid to a barren wasteland of a world where the only habitable parts (and barely habitable at that) were at the polls.

The static conditions the aforementioned hippies can recall from the four or five hours since their last hit are an anomaly. Pretty much all of recorded history is anomalous as well. Things change and will keep changing. There’s nothing we can do to stop it – or to cause it.

Here’s a little mathematical information courtesy of Wikipedia (a converged site, so you know it’s accurate):

nimbus-image-1492912754159

“Orders of Magnitude of Energy”. Wikipedia.

The “J” stands for “Joules” – a measurement of energy. Think of it as one Watt produced in one second. Or not, your business. This particular part of Wiki’s chart begins in the middle of the Exa-Joule range and ends at the beginning of the Yotta-Joule category. That’s what the numbers relate to (i.e. 2.2×1023, etc.). “Exa” starts with a quintillion, 1,000,000,000,000,000,000; “Yotta” with a  septillion, 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. In other words, it’s the difference between a lot of something (in this case energy as measured in Joules) and a whole hell of a lot of it. Follow?

Now the events denoted on the chart: First, direct your attention to the sixth line down, “Total world annual energy consumption in 2010”. That’s not so long ago; it’s probably a really good estimate of how much juice … joules … we all use currently. Then, it was 5×1020 J or 500,000,000,000,000,000,000 J. And much (most) of that consumption did not involve the nasty stuff from tailpipes or coal plants that the Earth Day crew complains incessantly about.

Moving on down the list one sees the various levels of reserves currently known for different power sources. According to this information, which jives with what I’ve read elsewhere, we currently know about 79,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 potential Joules from oil alone. That means we could run, at 2010 energy consumption levels, for the next 158 years burning only oil.

Using all known fossil fuels we could last another 780 years.

“Fasting” Uranium-238, alone, would get us 4,400 of 2010-level power production and usage.

Harnessing the power of the sun, via solar energy that falls on Earth, annually, would give us 110,000 2010s.

In other words, we ARE NOT running out of fuel. There is no crisis in that regard.

The notion that men are somehow driving climate change is also absurd, a non issue. We don’t have that kind of power. Recall that each modern year we produce/use about 5×1020 J of power. In contrast, the meteor impact event which killed off the Dinos, 65,000,000 years ago, instantly produced 5×1023 J of energy. That was, in a single second, 1,000 times as powerful as we are in a whole year. That was an extinction level event mainly because the energy transfer was almost entirely kinetic. Ours is not.

Nature has also dwarfed us in the release of dreaded greenhouse gases: water (very scary) and CO2. Single volcanic eruptions have instantly produced more of these gases than we have throughout all our history.

It’s not on my chart, above, but the next incident is an average, ordinary solar flare, at 6×1025 J. That’s 120,000 times our annual effect (again, at once). Last I heard,  Helios Hyperion does not drive a giant SUV nor burn wood, oil, or coal. Yet and still the Sun’s antics are felt daily on this planet and others.

Other research, by non panicked scientists, shows a general warming/instability on Mars which mirrors that on Earth. There are no Martian SUVs or spray cans that we know of. God only knows what old Marvin is up to up there. The commonality is regional solar activity: the more there is, the warmer a planet gets – any planet.

There is no man-made global warming or climate change. Or, if there is, it is miniscule compared to what ordinarily and naturally occurs. Again, it’s something beyond our power.

And that leads me to what the Earth Day nuts are really after – power, political power. Mixed in with their sobs about nonexistent climate change one hears all the old themes: Income equality. Feminism. Trans-whatever rights. More immigration. Higher taxes. More abortions. Fewer guns. More regulations. Fewer Christians. “Pizza”. Even higher taxes. Fewer Caucasians. More weirdness. Debased education. Unsound money. Smaller toilets. Censorship. Collectivism. Controls on everything on Earth and beyond. To save us from drowning (when the ice caps melt), we must suffer the complete and utter dominion of their god, the government.

It’s important to do what one can to keep one’s immediate environment clean and happy. That’s the spirit that drives hunters, conservationists, and gardeners. Do what you can and don’t worry about the whole planet – it will continue to do exactly what it has always done regardless. Don’t waste energy, not a single Joule, on communism and its hoaxes.

Have a happy and sane Earth Day. (Heck, it’s almost over…)

A Correction About Paris

France, ISIS, Paris, terrorism

Friends, yesterday I made a mistake in my haste to differentiate one ISIS terrorist from another. There are so many and I was relying on the word of ISIS itself. My apologies.

Then, I identified the (latest) Parisian shooter as one Abu Yousif, the “Belgian” (likely from Flemish parts), and previously convicted murderer. I now think he was another terrorist entirely.

Today we learned the actual ISIS shooter was a Karim Cheurfi, a separate piece of excrement altogether. He’s a “Frenchman”. And he is no murderer (or wasn’t until yesterday). Rather, he has only been arrested for trying to murder people and for threatening to kill police officers – earlier this year. Or way or another, one name or another, they are ALWAYS known beforehand. Every. Single. Time.

nintchdbpict000318274128

Loyal “Frenchman” Karim Cheurfi, seen here with fashionable human shield accessory. The Sun.

Sorry about the confusion, which I note, was rampant in the media at large – hard to sort stuff out when the 7.62 diversity is flying.

What’s in a name? Good riddance!
