Like, there could be a depression in this banana republic.

At this point, if the Federal Reserve stops juicing the economy, Pento argues, we could be looking at another depression.

“That’s why the Fed’s panicking,” he said. “If anybody still believes they’re omniscient or omnipotent or know their butt from their elbow, that’s over.”

The Federal Reserve is expected to lower its benchmark interest rate this week by 25 basis points, the third such cut in three months. According to the minutes from the Sept. 17-18 meeting, “downside risks had become more pronounced since July,” yet “several participants” wanted the Fed to provide more clarity on when the response to those risks, including “trade uncertainty,” would end.

The fun side of sorcery – nearly unlimited free fiat for the banksters!

The dark side – 100% rates for the working poor!

And yet today, just a few years later, many of the same subprime lenders that specialized in the debt are promoting an almost equally onerous type of credit.

It’s called the online installment loan, a form of debt with much longer maturities but often the same sort of crippling, triple-digit interest rates. If the payday loan’s target audience is the nation’s poor, then the installment loan is geared to all those working-class Americans who have seen their wages stagnate and unpaid bills pile up in the years since the Great Recession.

The crisis is too big not to fail.

Maybe exercise? Cutting the kids to fight fat.

Even some severely obese preteens should be considered for weight loss surgery, according to new recommendations.

The guidance issued Sunday by the American Academy of Pediatrics is based on a review of medical evidence, including several studies showing that surgery in teens can result in marked weight loss lasting at least several years, with few complications. In many cases, related health problems including diabetes and high blood pressure vanished after surgery.

While most of those studies involved teens, one included children younger than 12 and found no ill effects on growth, the policy says.

“Safe and effective is the message here,” said Dr. Sarah Armstrong, a Duke University pediatrics professor and the policy’s lead author.

Armstrong said children who have not gone through puberty may not be mature enough to understand the life-changing implications of surgery but that age alone shouldn’t rule it out. She doesn’t do surgery but works at a center that offers it; the youngest patient was 14.

It’s not a quick fix, she said. “It’s a lifelong decision with implications every single day for the rest of your life.”

Nearly 5 million U.S. children and teens are severely obese, a near doubling over 20 years. Many have already developed related health problems including diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and liver disease. But most kids don’t get obesity surgery, mainly because most public and private health insurance doesn’t cover it or they live far from surgery centers, Armstrong said. Costs can total at least $20,000.

Again, living healthy is a lifelong decision, that involves no additional costs, no surgeries, and no risks. But, will Americans go for the obvious in the current year? Fat chance.

Halloween, The Substitute, TPC

A duo of National Affairs are planned for a short TPC spot: Asset Forfeiture (Theft) and Dem Skrools. Then! Comes a great TPC Halloween Special – you will not want to miss that. Look for it, there and here, around the 31st.

Also, some fictional updates:

I’m working (slowly) both on The Substitute for Kindle and a Prequel featuring Dr. Ironsides at his best. In the 54th reading of my manuscript, I noticed the slightest little plot timing discrepancy. It manifests itself towards the end of Part II. I found the thing hilarious. It would be literally a one-word fix, but I’m tempted to leave it in, like an upside-down airplane. Most, I assume, probably won’t notice it even with my alert. Funny.

And, they’re not posted anywhere, but I’ve received a little praise from an early reader:

“Hey – I started your book – I am truly impressed! It’s a bit Stuart Woods like.” – “J.B.”

On the layout, etc.:

“It’s great – very professional, a real novel.”

I’ll take it! After last being compared to Lovecraft (which is also okay), this is a move towards a higher-selling comparison.

Mission accomplished. Time to withdraw in triumph. Al-Baghdadi (not a rapper) is dead:

The United States military has conducted a special operations raid targeting one of its most high-value targets, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State militant group (ISIS), Newsweek has learned. President Donald Trump approved the mission nearly a week before it took place.

Amid reports Saturday of U.S. military helicopters over the Syria’s northwestern Idlib province, a senior Pentagon official familiar with the operation and Army official briefed on the matter told Newsweek that Baghdadi was the target of the top-secret operation in the last bastion of the country’s Islamist-dominated opposition, a faction that has clashed with ISIS in recent years.

Trump Details Death of ISIS Leader al-Baghdadi in Northern SyriaREAD MORE
A U.S. Army official briefed on the results of the operation told Newsweek that Baghdadi was killed in the raid, and the Defense Department told the White House they have “high confidence” that the high-value target killed was Baghdadi, but further verification is pending DNA and biometric testing. The senior Pentagon official said there was a brief firefight when U.S. forces entered the compound in Idlib’s Barisha village and that Baghdadi then killed himself by detonating a suicide vest.

One hopes they rapidly conducted one of those traditional Islamic sea-burials that nobody has ever heard of. Otherwise, the “leader” of the leaderless ISIS might rise again, only to die ten years from now from renal failure.

The great news! If any of this actually happened, then these same tactics can be used on real terrorists and enemy combatants in DC and NY. The sooner the better.

cross country, mental illness, NCAA, society, sports, trans "rights"

In times gone by, the mentally ill were at best, cared for and, at worst, they were maligned. Today, they are allowed to run wild, literally governing the asylum. At best, this makes a mockery of our culture and society; at worst, it destroys the culture and society. Sports! News!: NCAA Says Man is Woman of the Week:

The Big Sky Conference named University of Montana runner June Eastwood, a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman, the cross-country female athlete of the week.

“June Eastwood finished second in a field of 204 runners at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational,” helping “Montana place seventh as a team,” the conference noted in its announcement Tuesday. Eastwood previously competed on the University of Montana’s men’s team.

Conservatives out in conservative, cowboy-land Montana couldn’t even conserve the girls’ track team. Mr. Eastwood may use athletic tape and take hormones. Those measures partially address two of the 6,000 differences between male and female. Many of the rest reside in the brain. I wonder what a scan of Eastwood’s would show us? If you happen to have a daughter who competes in a sport(s), then this might be of slight interest to you. No, I’m not talking to you, Cleetus, on the couch in a drunken stupor before your TeeVee god. Sane people of the West, do you want your daughter’s placed at an “intolerable” disadvantage on the track or the field?

That’s the muddled conclusion of a paper in the Journal of Medical Ethics.

The inclusion of elite transwomen athletes in sport is controversial. The recent International Olympic Committee (IOC) (2015) guidelines allow transwomen to compete in the women’s division if (amongst other things) their testosterone is held below 10 nmol/L. This is significantly higher than that of cis-women. Science demonstrates that high testosterone and other male physiology provides a performance advantage in sport suggesting that transwomen retain some of that advantage. To determine whether the advantage is unfair necessitates an ethical analysis of the principles of inclusion and fairness. Particularly important is whether the advantage held by transwomen is a tolerable or intolerable unfairness. We conclude that the advantage to transwomen afforded by the IOC guidelines is an intolerable unfairness. This does not mean transwomen should be excluded from elite sport but that the existing male/female categories in sport should be abandoned in favour of a more nuanced approach satisfying both inclusion and fairness.

More “conservatives,” surely. They see the problem, plain as day. But, they just can’t help but trip over all the PC bullshit. Nuances, inclusion, fairness, diversity, and equality do not work. Yet and still, I assume that just about everyone will quietly tolerate the intolerable. It’s our greatest strength.

So, congratulations to Mr. Eastwood! And to the University of Montana, which I identify as a failed school.

economics, economy, Federal Reserve, sorcery

The narcotic references speak for themselves.

“The repo market has been drugged into submission by the Fed,” said Jim Bianco, head of Bianco Research. “That’s fine for a while. But what I am getting concerned about is that they’re not figuring a way to get it off the drug and get it back to normal, and that will be a problem longer term for them.”

Investors have long complained about the Fed hand-holding the market, injecting trillions of dollars in liquidity and keeping interest rates artificially low during and after the financial crisis.

This is a different situation, though.

Rather than looking to goose the economy back to health, the Fed is now using its balance sheet to make sure banks have enough reserves and an adequate amount of capital is flowing through the system to keep things running efficiently. The effort also is aimed at keeping the Fed’s own overnight funds rate within the 25 basis point target range it employs.

It’s like an addict who has to keep getting the fix, not for a new high, but to keep from going into withdrawals. This is your economy. This is your economy on sorcery.

RPC explains that this is a global and system-wide issue.

Today central banks not only support bond prices by heavy purchases, they do the same thing in the equity market. The Bank of Japan, for example, owns 77.5% of Japan’s ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) market, having bought nearly 23 trillion yen of the ETF market since 2013. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-japan-economy-boj/kuroda-defends-japan-central-banks-etf-buying-sees-no-near-term-exit-idUSKBN1O602Q

The Federal Reserve owns assets equal to 20% of US GDP. The European Central Bank owns assets equal to 40% of the euro-zone economy. The Bank of Japan’s asset hoard now exceeds the Japanese economy in size. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-11-13/bank-of-japan-s-hoard-of-assets-is-now-bigger-than-the-economy

With this background, we can now get on with the story.

For a decade we have had a stock market based on (1) the profits from lower labor costs by producing offshore the goods and services corporations sell to Americans, thereby destroying the American middle class and the tax base of cities and states, (2) the use of corporate profits for buying back the corporations’ stock, and by borrowing to buy back stock, thus decapitalizing the corporations in order to support stock prices, managerial bonuses and shareholder capital gains, and (3) Quantitative Easing (QE) which pumped trillions of dollars into US financial markets, thus pushing up the prices of financial assets. If the money the Federal Reserve created in order to support the solvency of the “banks too big to fail” had gone into the economy, hyperinflation in consumer prices would have been the result. Instead the money caused inflation in the prices of financial assets, and this is the explanation of why a small percentage of people—shareholders—have accumulated most of the gains in income and wealth.

The extraordinary increase in the inequality of incomes in the United States is the consequence of using economic policy to support the New York Banks, which has meant supporting the prices of the bad assets on their balance sheets.

In America today truth gets no respect from anyone whether right, left, liberal, conservative, Democrat, Republican. The idiot Hillary has alleged that the only sane Democrat—Tulsi Gabbard— is a Russian agent! It blows the mind. And the presstitutes treat the absurd allegation as if it is a fact.

Right on all counts. The sorcery has begotten inequality that begins to look like slavery. Most people seem okay, at present, with the situation. One wonders when and how that will change. Ask any addict – the crash always comes.

The sorcery has its limits. Ray Dalio says we’ve found them.

Hedge fund owner Ray Dalio said the global business cycle is in a “great sag” and the world’s economy holds at least two parallels to the 1930s.

Speaking a CNBC-moderated panel at the IMF and World Bank annual meetings in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, Dalio said it was now too late for central banks to make much difference as economies enter a natural downturn.

“This cycle is fading, we are now in the world in what I would call a ‘great sag’,” said Dalio, adding that monetary policy, and especially interest rate reductions, were unlikely to offer much stimulus.

“Europe is at the limitation of that, Japan is (too) and the U.S. doesn’t have much to go on for that,” he told CNBC’s Geoff Cutmore.

Dalio said the world was also experiencing the biggest wealth gap since the 1930s and that was creating political stress.

He goes on to mention geopolitical war. One or more of those may strike a little closer to home than most would think possible. It’s not going to be pretty, but it is survivable. Now, what was the ancient punishment for sorcery? As the cycle fades, may the fires rise.

PCR presents a German journalist who blew the whistle on the intel-controlled media.

In a recent interview with USA Watchdog — I described Western journalists as prostitutes who whore for a living.

One of them who did so—Udo Ulfkotte—describes what it is like. For the naive and insouciant Western people who need to hear the truth from the horse’s mouth, here is a translation of one of Udo Ulfkotte’s lectures on the subject.

Kopp in Germany published Ulfkotte’s book, Gekaufte Journalisten (Bought Journalism) several years ago. It was a best seller. An English language edition was authorized, but its publication was blocked by intelligence services. You can get an idea of the book from the lecture.

See here.

If the link doesn’t work for you, here is the transcript:

In 2014, the German journalist and writer Udo Ulfkotte published a book that created a big stir, describing how the journalistic profession is thoroughly corrupt and infiltrated by intelligence services.

Although eagerly anticipated by many, the English translation of the book, Bought Journalists, does not seem to be forthcoming anytime soon.

The Grand Zucker is at it again, meeting with his fellow travelers.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been hosting informal talks and small, off-the-record dinners with conservative journalists, commentators and at least one Republican lawmaker in recent months to talk about issues like free speech and discuss partnerships.

The dinners, which began in July, are part of Zuckerberg’s broader effort to cultivate friends on the right amid outrage by President Donald Trump and his allies over alleged “bias” against conservatives at Facebook and other major social media companies. “I’m under no illusions that he’s a conservative but I think he does care about some of our concerns,” said one person familiar with the gatherings, which multiple sources have confirmed.

Gramnasty. Shapiru. When does he plan to meet with anyone from the right?

The anti-American haters just can’t help it. It’s their nature.

Someone doused a statue of Christopher Columbus with red paint in San Francisco on Saturday night ahead of a national holiday celebrating the controversial explorer, KRON reports.

Visitors to Telegraph Hill, home to historic Coit Tower, on Sunday found the message “destroy all monuments to genocide and kill all colonizers” painted around the defaced statue’s base, according to KGO.

They want to genocide the colony, presumably with no monument to the act…
