An afterthought about the previous post: it might be just as well that we can’t go inside the branches anymore. Banks used to have signs that forbid, for obvious reasons, things like sunglasses, hoodies, hats, and … masks. The difference nine months, a virus, a recession, and a collapse of intelligence makes.

January? Last year? Can’t remember? Neither can I.
I do know that the banks I do business have essentially sealed their buildings to the public. The ATM is now and ITM(!) where equipment permitting, you can speak “directly” with a teller. I’ve heard of branch closings. Others have too. Vox Day issues a warning:
Banks don’t make their money from deposits anymore. And increasingly, they don’t make money from loans anymore. So there simply isn’t any point in maintaining branches for service to non-revenue-producing customers who have no savings and can’t take out any more loans.
It’s interesting that they’re trying to sell the real estate, though. That tends to indicate that they need cash. It won’t be even remotely surprising if the next financial crisis starts later this month; I would be very surprised if it didn’t start before the end of 2021.
Read his whole post, including the email. Then reconcile that with what you know about your town, small or large. Does any of this suggest a remotely healthy economy? And it’s been going on since before the last crisis. Banks and mega-corporations now exist by stealing gold and accepting USG/Fed monetary methadone (thanks, GC!). It’s (way past) time for a reset.

I’ve been saying for some time that the internet is almost dead, at least speed-wise. I think it peaked around 2005 and has been slowly inching backward since. Hooray! It’s like 1996 all over again. Others agree:

The process of creating hundreds of individual, national internets has been slow because the global Internet — the network of networks — was never designed to recognize national borders and because the United States had been a forceful opponent of a fragmented set of national internets. Both of these conditions have changed — and they are changing rapidly.
At this rate, in another year or three, your cat videos will be delivered by a pigeon or a cloud of smoke.

Mr. and Mrs. POTUS allegedly have the WuFlu. A moment of silence…
President Donald Trump said early Friday that he and first lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the coronavirus, a stunning announcement that plunges the country deeper into uncertainty just a month before the presidential election.
For clarification, and assuming this is not a probable false positive result:
Trump only has a 94.6% chance of recovery without incident.
Melania has a 99.5% chance of recovery.
The show will continue, hopefully with Trump having ironed out implementation kinks in The Storm.

Yes, I’ve seen them in posts and along the right PC sidebar. This is not me, it’s WordPress – a testament to traffic returning to previous levels in spite of my ban on anti-social media madness. It’s really quite the compliment. Of course, as soon as you kindly increase donation and/or purchase amounts to the sufficient point, I will convert the site to a higher, more expensive platform level. Not the best day for the remains of liberty in America. Ron Paul was hospitalized after a possible stroke.
Paul, 85, was talking about federal stimulus money when his speech began to slur.
He was hospitalized in Texas for “precautionary reasons,” according to Fox News.
Fox News also reported that Paul was “lucid and optimistic.”
I watched the incident video – hard to watch. However, sometimes these things are just exhaustion. And, this is RP; even a stroke can’t slow him down.

While looking through the drafts for items to delete, I came across an idea I had based on something that happened many years ago. It was only a title, and I converted it into this post. It turns out that the subject matter has already, recently, been converted into a short story! That, you may get to see one of these days.
As it turns out, I have another short work of fiction which you’ll get to read on October 1st – also based, very loosely, on a true story. It was written for a dedicated audience and was well received as “fun and refreshing.” In fact, those same words have been used by multiple advance reviewers. You’ll know it when you see it.
Also: Dr. Ironsides and the rest of the cast – those you know and those you’ve never heard of – have not been idle…
